California Vacation With The Baby

Kelly travels a lot for work, so in May we decided to tag along with him to the west coast! We were nervous taking our 8 month old across the country for her first flight ever but figured we had to try at some point! Let me just say that packing for a baby and yourself for a week is no joke!

We stayed in Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Napa, Monterey and finished our trip in San Francisco to see my sister, brother-in-law and two handsome nephews!  The drive to Tahoe was so pretty and Reese got to see snow, not that she will remember but it was cute! We stayed in Heavenly village in South Lake Tahoe.  I would definitely recommend this location with little ones. It was perfect for us with the baby because we could just walk to dinner and not have to worry about getting Reese in and out of the car.

We made a quick trip to Napa, one of our favorite places, and took Reese to her first wine tasting! She was a great chaperone and was thoroughly entertained chewing on a wine cork 🙂 Our time at Caymus Vineyards was lovely and they were super kid friendly.  We had lunch at Dean and Deluca and dinner at Allegria, one of our favorite italian restaurants in town!

From Napa we continued to Monterey (add in Big Little Lies theme song here!) I was super excited to drive over the bridge with my best Reese Witherspoon act but my hubby was excited to get the infamous Pebble Beach! He is in the golf industry so this is a must see if you are an avid golf lover like he is:) Ok, so MOST of the things that we did on this trip were kid friendly but we had kind an embarrassing moment when we went to see pebble beach gold course.  They allow you to walk the infamous 18th hole even if you aren’t playing, so we strapped Reese into her stroller and took off to get some amazing views of the Pacific and wrap up the day with dinner on the verandah.  Welllllll it was a disaster! Reese is a very content baby and rarely cries but she decided to choose this moment to have an EPIC melt down:( In her defense, we had been in the car all day and apparently she was over it! People have traveled near and far to check off playing Pebble Beach on their bucket list, and we were those people with a screaming baby! I wanted to crawl under a rock! We sprinted out of there as fast as we could and ate Chipotle back at the hotel ha!

After a whirlwind of a week, We were looking forward to checking into the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco for some relaxation and family time! We met my sister and the boys at this cute mexican restaurant in the Mission called Regalito Rosticeria, a great kid friendly restaurant with delicious margaritas! I met my sister the next morning for a SoulCycle class before we ventured out for the day. Guys, if you are ever in a city with a SoulCycle class YOU.MUST.GO! It is so much fun and an incredible workout! We got cleaned up and took a day trip to Sonoma.  My sister made reservation at Scribe Winery and it was heavenly! We had blankets, wine, and great company! Reese was occupied with a loaf of bread 🙂 That night, the three of us curled up in our cozy bed and ordered room service.

On our last day we went to San Francisco’s largest picnic in Presidio, Off the Grid.  There were food trucks, yoga, dogs galore and the perfect spot to lounge and take in the views of the bay. Our time is San Fran is always so short and we are always sad to leave family but we had the best time with my sister and brother-in-law watching the kids play together!

It was a BUSY week, but we had such a blast being on the road with Kelly and I am so happy that we decided to take Reese on an adventure because she did great and we can’t wait to plan our next trip! I will do a follow up post with all the packing essentials for traveling with a baby!
