If you ever get the chance to travel to Hawaii, YOU MUST GO!! It is the most magical place we have ever been to, EVER. Now we were on our honeymoon and full of wedded bliss and we probably would have been excited to travel anywhere, but I have no doubt we would have enjoyed it just as much if it were a regular vacation!
Since we were flying from Florida, we decided to break up the flight by flying to LA, spending the night there and continuing our travel the next morning. We flew into Maui and from there rented a jeep (because thats the cliche thing to do in hawaii) and drove to Kapalua. That drive is still one of my most favorite memories with my honey! We turned on the local radio station, cruised through the mountains of Hawaii and swore we could never love each other more than we did in that moment (then we had a kid, but that’s a different story :)) My husband Kelly and I are suckers for a nice hotel and fruity beverages, so naturally our first stop was the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua! We relaxed by the pool, played golf at the plantation course, went to the spa, Lu’au’s and stuffed our bellies 🙂 We decided that the first part of our honeymoon would be more about relaxing since we just finished planning a wedding!
From Kapalua, we drove to the other side of Maui and checked in at the Four Season’s in Wailea! I could live there forever! We spent most of our time at the adult pool with more fruity beverages, but we actually ventured out and hiked to waterfalls, black sand beaches and took brown bag lunches on the Road to Hana! It is a full day adventure so be sure not to plan anything else that day. Our bartender told us later that night that if we survived driving the Road to Hana together, that our marriage was sure to last! Haha! It was actually terrifying driving up the mountain but well worth it to stop along the way and really see Hawaii’s beauty! I would recommend driving your own car and not a tour bus but that is just me! We downloaded an app on our phones that guided us along the way.
This incredible place holds such a special place in our hearts and we can’t wait to go back! I know that we only just scratched the surface of what Maui has to offer!
I have listed some of the amazing restaurants we went to below!
Spago (This was one of the restaurant’s at the Four Seasons, delicious food and great sunset! We actually ate here a few times)
The Gazebo (A must! It is literally a hut on the water and they serve the most amazing fried rice for breakfast! Get there early because there is always a line to get a table!)
Ferraro’s (Another yummy Italian restaurant at the Four Season’s)
CJ’s Deli (This is where we picked up our lunch on our way to Road to Hana, it was a super cute little town to walk around too!)
